Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the 5th Grade. This is an exciting new year for all. As you are aware 5th grade students will be provided with IPad’s this year. Although we still have our standard text books, IPad will be used to enhance learning.
Homework will consist of: Spelling City, Go Math, math worksheet, and reading. Go Math is also assessable online. This is a wonderful website, students can print off homework (if left at school), watch videos, etc. Spelling City is assigned to Reading groups, and spelling list will be posted every Monday. Homework is usually assigned Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Incomplete class work will be sent home and must be completed by the start of the following day. If work is not completed student will stay in for recess to finish. I strongly recommend Math and Spelling should be practiced daily.
Projects will be assigned quarterly. These projects will vary, but are not optional. Students will complete a science project this year based on the YES Fair standards. You should receive information about the YES Fair and its requirements in December.
Snacks are encouraged. Please provide healthy snacks and water. Water bottles are encouraged. If your child has a food allergy or any allergies, please let me know.
Attached you will find our class schedule and specials.
