    Welcome to the Pack!

Welcome! My name is Dane Floyd, and I will be your child’s 4th grade teacher this year at General Myer Elementary School. I hope everyone in your family had a safe, relaxing, and fun summer! I am very excited to be working with your child during this upcoming academic year here at Myer.

During the first two weeks of school we will be establishing the routines related to my classroom management plan and introducing the procedures that will lay the foundation for how we do our daily work. We will begin to establish our home away from home as an environment conducive to learning and growing. With regards to my classroom management, the students will participate in forming our norms and rules for the classroom, as this helps them become more accountable for their learning environment. I will also use Class Dojo, which is a communication app for the classroom. It connects teachers, parents, and students who use it to share photos, videos, and messages throughout the school day. It is also used as a behavior management tool by acknowledging positive and negative behaviors for exhibited by the students. It also helps with team building and sharing our experiences in the classroom and in the home.

I envision our classroom environment as task-oriented, enjoyable, firm, but yet fair with tons of fun mixed-in. We will also build on our social and emotional skills throughout the year (our class theme will be the “Wolfpack”).

At your convenience, please make sure you review the General Myer 2018-2019 Handbook, for it is an informational source pertaining to policies and procedures at General Myer.

I am very excited for the year to begin, and I wish that all of you have a safe, productive and healthy academic year ahead. I am confident that we will have a very successful year together. I look forward to forging a partnership with you this year as your child progresses socially, emotionally and academically through 4th Grade.

Should you have any concerns, questions and/or ways you can volunteer in our classroom or from home, please do not hesitate to contact me at floydd@fhasd.org.
